In 2004 I was invited by portuguese author Luís Louro to write a short tale for his new book.
Fadas Láureas is an erotic-humorous book, of elven theme. For each illustration, Louro invited a writer for a small text inspired by it. Besides me, other 27 authors turned to words what the illustration evoked in them. Bruno Nogueira, João Baião, Luís Represas, Margarida Rebelo Pinto, Nuno Markl, Rosa Lobato Faria and Rui Veloso were some of the invited writers.
The book was published in October 2004, by Prime Books
Finally, in November 2009, Sonho Sem Fim was published, the first album entirely written and lettered by me.
This was a book idealized by car pilot Pedro Couceiro, to commemorate his 25th year of career. It was not an easy job to do. He had very specific ideas of what he wanted for his book, and I was always highly conditioned by his wishes. I didn’t have much creative freedom, but I learned over time to adapt to what Pedro envisioned for his book.
The book’s completion took about a year. In spite of all the challenges, it was a pleasure working on it. Besides writing, I had the opportunity to also evolve in the art of lettering.
Rui Ricardo was the artist. Unfortunately, the paper used for this edition didn’t capture the vibrant colors of his work. The book is an hard cover edition and it's available for purchase throughout the country.
I wrote and lettered the comic book “Trabalhadores do Comércio - Imbictus” (with artists André Caetano and Pedro Pires).
The book came out in July 22nd 2011, as part of a colection of Portuguese Pop/Rock in Comics (plus CD), with the newspapers Diário de Notícias and Jornal de Notícias.
"Imbictus" is devoted to the portuguese rock band "Trabalhadores do Comércio".
It is a 28 page hard cover original graphic novel, with an audio CD.
"In 2012 there came a virus that took all the talent and creative spirit of all musicians in the world. All? No. A small portuguese band resisted the epidemic – becoming the only musicians in action.
30 years later, the band prepares for the final concert of their career and the last concert of live music in the world."
With this work, I was nominated as Best Writer in "Prémios Nacionais de Banda Desenhada", the comic book awards organized by Amadora BD comic convention.
