My work in general
I was born in 1975, in Matosinhos, Portugal, and my interest in comics came before learning how to read.
I write when I have the time to, but mostly I work as a letterer, which I have been doing since 2003. I also do layouts and books design (not necessarily in comic books). I even used to draw, but I don’t do that anymore.
I have worked in a Portuguese comic book publishing company (as assistant editor), which published adaptations in Portuguese, comic books from several American companies – like Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, IDW, among others.
My work reaches other countries like Spain, Brazil, Poland, Croatia, Denmark, Czech Republic and Cape Verde.
What I do
In short, I’m a comic book letterer as a freelancer. My main work is adapting existent comic books in their own language, to another. But my goal is to letter from scratch more original comic books.
I own a pop culture news website for the Portuguese market: www.centralcomics.com, since 2001.
I also organize the ‘Troféus Central Comics’ – these are a Portuguese comic book awards, more or less like the Eisners.
‘Kull: The End’
Best Short Story
in Troféus Central Comics
‘Trabalhadores do Comércio – Imbictus’
in Prémios Profissionais da Banda Desenhada
I also hosted a TV segment about comic books in Porto Canal (portuguese TV channel).
